The Piedmont is the birthplace of the slowfood organization (www.slowfood.com) which by now is a worldwide active organization promoting the preservation of culinary traditions and ingredients. The fact that this movement was started in the Piedmont is not surprising given its rich culinary history. The Piedmontese kitchen and wines are world-famous, not to forget the great truffles. Red wines like Barolo, Barbaresco and Nebbiolo are famous all over the world. However, nowadays Piedmont also produces good white wines, Moscate d\u2019Asti being the most famous.
